Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.

Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations in Lubbock.

  • New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

  • Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

  • What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Join the Lubbock Photography Group on Facebook to share your photos after the session.

I had been waiting for a chance to take a photo with Vengeance and red wild flowers for a while now. I found this little patch in a safe area and got some stellar shots.

The Spirit of Vengeance is my 1979 Shovelhead chopper I used to play with light painting flames. It was around 10pm and I was actually trying to take the photo in the street but it was a busy Cinco de Mayo night. So I settled for this spot. I definitely will plan to try this again in the middle of no where on a clear night so I can catch a star filled sky as well.

The Great Reno Balloon Race was this weekend. About a dozen balloon are up and aglow before dawn. This beautiful one was my favorite. Most shooting were using auto white balance, cloudy, or 5600K to keep the yellow cast from the flame. I prefer a white balance which retains the true colors of the balloons, especially for this balloon.

This bright little robin landed on a lichen-covered branch in my garden on a rather dull day. I used a fast shutter speed and a wide aperture to isolate him from the background.Nikon D610, Nikon 28-300mm 1/1000 sec f/5.6 Auto ISO 1800

Location: Upper Glen Alpine Falls. I hiked to this location after sunset. The foreground is a single photo I took during the blue hour for clarity and sharpness. I couldn't wait for the Milky Way at this location due to high bear activity it was almost dark by the time I hiked back to the car. The Milky Way picture is a stack of 19 frames for noise reduction, taken a few hours later over Lake Tahoe, which is just a few miles away from the falls.Edited in Luminar Neo.

This shot was taken on my first day into this trip. My wife and I decided to spend Labor Day weekend in the mountains which was wonderful but also very busy which isn't the best for wildlife photography. However, I did come away with some good shots from my outing (mostly landscape) and this is by far one of my favorite. I love how the light is striking the deer's face while he is mostly shrouded in shadow. I took this with a Nikon 200-500mm @ 500, 1/160s, ISO 100 and f6.3. I shot this across th
